Privacy Policy

Effective August 9, 2026
The short version: your sea-time records live on your phone, not on our servers — because we don't have any servers. We can't see your hitches, your signatures, your transfers, or anything else you log. The only data that leaves your device is what you choose to export or share, plus the standard purchase processing done by Apple, Google, and our purchase-management provider when you buy Pro.

Who we are

Pushboat Log is made by Jackstaff Digital ("we," "us"). This policy covers the Pushboat Log mobile application and the pushboatlog.com website.

What we collect: almost nothing

Pushboat Log is a local-first app. Everything you record — hitches, vessels, sea-time credit, tankerman transfers, barge numbers, TOAR sign-offs, captured signatures, captain's-log entries (miles, locks, events), document expiration dates, and your profile details — is stored only in the app's storage on your device. We do not operate accounts, logins, or servers that receive this data, and we have no ability to read it.

Purchases

If you buy Pushboat Log Pro (annual or lifetime), the payment is processed entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play — we never see your payment details. To recognize your purchase across reinstalls, the app uses RevenueCat, which processes an anonymous app-instance identifier and your purchase history for this app. That is the only third-party service the app talks to, and it receives none of your logged records.

Signatures

Signatures captured in the app (from captains, tankermen, or designated examiners) are stored as images on your device, attached to the specific record that was signed. They are shared with no one unless you generate and send a document that includes them.

Exports and sharing

When you export a sea-service letter, CG-719S worksheet, transfer summary, CSV, or backup file, that file is created on your device and goes only where you send it (your email, your company office, the National Maritime Center, your cloud storage). Sharing is always your action and your choice.

Analytics and tracking

Version 1 of Pushboat Log contains no analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no tracking. If a future version adds crash reporting or analytics, we will update this policy first and describe exactly what is collected.

Device backups

Your records are included in your phone's own backup (Google device backup on Android, iCloud on iOS), so they restore automatically when you set up a replacement phone with the same account. That backup belongs to your Google or Apple account and is governed by their terms — it never passes through us.

Data retention and deletion

Because your data lives on your device, you control it completely. Deleting the app deletes your records from the device (your phone's own backup may retain a copy under your account — export a file backup first; your sea time is valuable). We cannot recover data for you, because we never had it.

Children

Pushboat Log is a professional tool for working mariners and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version at this address and update the effective date. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
